Network Attach
Storage (NAS):
NTS Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems
are designed to provide a storage and data
consolidation platform for files that can be
shared between heterogeneous clients and
servers.
Network Attached storage is a specialized
server and operating system that is
optimized for fast file access and
heterogeneous file sharing with facilities
for high availability, rapid recovery, data
protection, ease-of-management and data
backup and recovery.
NAS devices can have their own, integrated
storage or they can share SAN storage. When
sharing SAN storage the NAS system provides
the facilities for file sharing while
leveraging the previously consolidated pool
of SAN storage.
NAS is beneficial when there is a need to
share files to different servers and
desktops and is typically implemented for
messaging, development applications,
business and regulatory compliance and
general file sharing.
With NTS Network Attached Storage (NAS)
solutions, all of the users in a LAN can
access a common storage pool with access to
shared applications, databases, documents
and internal resources. With solutions based
on Windows Storage Server 2 and Linux-based
options, NTS NAS products offer a variety of
hard drive interface choices including SATA,
SAS, SCSI and Fibre Channel Disks.
Linux-Based NAS Servers:
Linux Based NAS products are designed for
heterogeneous Windows, Unix, Mac, and Linux
environments. With the different lines of
network-attached storage product lines,
Linux-Based NAS products are ideal for SMB
to enterprise implementations.
Windows-Based Storage Server 2003 NAS:
Microsoft's Windows Storage Server Platform
offers integrated file, print and team
collaboration services under an industry
standard Windows-based interface. Within
this familiar environment, administrators
can manage their files effectively. Key
features include the Volume Shadow Copy
service, clustering capability, and seamless
integration into Windows environments.
Direct Attach
Storage:
NTS offers a complete line of Direct Attach
Storage solutions for desktop, departmental,
and enterprise environments. We integrate
our own value-line of SCSI or Serial ATA or
SAS Raid products.
SAN Solutions:
Our SAN solutions utilize a high-speed fibre
channel infrastructure to provision raw
storage across a business or enterprise, or
even multiple locations. The flexible SAN
solutions are designed for heterogeneous
data environments, and serve as the backbone
for hybrid storage configurations. Our SANs
solutions support disk mirroring, backup and
restore, archival and retrieval of archived
data, data migration from one storage device
to another, and the sharing of data among
different servers in a network This line of
solutions allows organizations to centralize
iSCSI, FC and SCSI-attached storage.
Internal storage capabilities make them
ideal for SAN-in-a-box implementations.
iSCSI
Solutions:
Storage Area Networks can be Fibre
Channel-based (FC) or IP-based (iSCSI). For
Fibre Channel SANs a separate network is
required and consists of specialized
hardware (HBAs for hosts that require
connectivity to the SAN and SAN switches).
iSCSI SANs can utilize pre-existing networks
but are best designed as dedicated IP
networks to avoid contention between storage
and client/server traffic.
Regardless of whether the SAN is Fibre
Channel or iSCSI-based, SANs provide for the
consolidation of the physical storage
resources only and in every other way
resemble a Direct Attach Storage (DAS)
environment. Each server still owns its
respective file system and data is still
shared by the general-purpose server and
must be backed up on a server-by-server
basis.
SANs are beneficial when applications
require the speed of direct block
translation and are typically implemented
for large-scale database applications.
Backup
Solutions:
Data is the essence of a company, and it
must be protected as aggressively as

to tape-based alternatives, D2D is easier to
